DESCRIPTION: APW - Waltham, Lugrin's patent double-dial chronograph, Model 1874, 16J, 14S, 18K gold (tested) OF original display case with spring-loaded front, glazed observation cuvette under rear lid, front with white enamel SS timekeeping dial, rear with white enamel chronograph chapter ring divided in 1/5-second increments, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#871593. Gross weight of assembled watch 74.9 dwt (116.4 g). An impressive example of this scarce early Waltham chronograph type.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good chronograph function, visible portion of mvt in excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, few mismatched jewel setting screws; front dial with scattered very faint hls; rear dial with chip between 30 and 35 second positions, patched chips at affixing screws, many scattered hls and fractures; excellent hands, minute is a differing shade of blue; case observation cuvette hinge is missing its pin so currently is functioning as snap on and off, case shows very little wear, no dents or dings; tight bow, crown shows light wear and has excess up/down play; good glass front and rear crystals, observation cuvette crystal is plastic and has glue excess at its seat.
